Toile patterns, which have been around for over 250 years, are currently experiencing a resurgance in popularity. We have been creating custom toile transferware (Transferware refers to a traditional method of decorating dinnerware or china) in the time-honored tradition exclusively for our clients. Some of our clients have their own toile patterns, previously used on fabric or wallpaper. In this case, we have used these existing toile patterns to create transferware. For some, we have created a new toile pattern incorporating scenes and themes that reflect the client’s goals. Generally, that has meant creating art of buildings or scenes in an appropriate style and coupling it with art that exists from that era. The results have been lovely.
We’ve produced custom toile transferware in the traditional colors: various shades of blue, red and black, but we can print it any color to please the market. We can decorate any ceramic piece in our catalog with a toile pattern, so the possibilities for creating a custom collection are limitless.
