We haven’t donned our elf hats yet here at LDA Creations but the holiday season has already started. This week I’ve been working on a number of custom porcelain ornaments. We have quite a few customers who come to us every year for their annual collectible holiday ornaments. These custom porcelain ornaments generally commemorate a well loved town landmark, historical buildings or annual holiday celebrations. We do collectible porcelain ornaments for churches, historical societies, schools, museums and organizations. It’s always great to see what our annual customers bring us every year.
Here at LDA Creations we offer a variety of custom porcelain ornaments. This week I’ve been working on some kiln fired custom porcelain ornaments. I begin designing the ornament with artwork from the customer, usually a photo or drawing. This is an opportunity for me to use my drawing skills to create a line drawing for the custom porcelain ornament. But after that my work is all done by computer. With the magic of computers I’m able to transform a drawing on paper into a collectible custom porcelain ornament.
After the artwork for the custom porcelain ornament goes through the approval process with the customer it’s passed on to our master decal printer. The decals are printed by silkscreen and then sent to our production department to be put on the ornaments. After the custom porcelain ornaments are fired in our kilns they are put in their gift box and shipped out.
These custom porcelain ornaments become a cherished collectible in someone’s holiday decorations. And do we really wear elf hats during our holiday season? Well, that’s another story.
